Jason Cook |
Rabbinic Fellow |
Jason Cook is a fifth-year rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati. He is beyond excited to be spending his final year as a rabbinical student serving as the Student Rabbi for Ohio University Hillel. As a soon-to-be rabbi, Jason strives to help people find ways to connect personal values with Jewish tradition. He has a passion for finding ways to think around corners and see things from new perspectives, particularly when it comes to Jewish text.
When he doesn't have his nose buried in classes or his rabbinic thesis (if you’re intrigued by the phrase “ethics of reading” you should ask him about it), Jason is spending time with his wife Phylicia, singing (poorly) to Hamilton, or watching basketball and cheering loudly for his beloved Portland Trailblazers. |
Jon McCullough |
Jewish Student Life Coordinator |
Jon McCullough comes to Ohio University's Hillel with a desire to connect with Jewish college students and help them develop their Jewish identity. Jon graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelors of Science in International Studies, specializing in Security and Intelligence. At Ohio State, Jon maintained an active leadership role in Zeta Beta Tau's Nu Chapter, working in community service, brotherhood programming, and parent/alumni outreach while also serving on their executive board.
After going on Birthright in the winter of 2015, Jon returned to intern in Tel Aviv in the summer of 2016 through the Onward Israel program and worked in Israel advocacy the following summer as a Field and Political Intern for JStreet's Midwest office in Chicago. Jon also gained valuable engagement experience as a John Glenn Fellow in Washington, D.C. through Ohio State's Washington Academic Internship Program. When he is not working Jon can be found binging episodes of Survivor, watching Chicago Cubs baseball and Ohio State Football, or trying out a new cooking recipe he found on social media. |
